Finding Parts For Your Coffee Pot
This may be one of the biggest pains in the butt when it comes to coffee makers. Every coffee maker comes out with a new model about every 12-18 months, and that wonderful appliance you purchased last year is no longer on the shelf at the store, and finding parts, such as carafes, water filters, coffee filter baskets, etc. are near impossible to find at your local store.
Here’s the deal. Today I was needing a water filter for my Kitchen Aid. Just a simple little filter. I went to Target, Home Depot, Kohls, Walmart – NOTHING! They only carry filters for the latest appliances that are on the market.
Let me save you some trouble and gas money from driving all over town for something that does not exist. There are only three ways to find parts for your coffee maker that is more than 1 year old:
- Get out your manufacturer’s book and order straight from the manufacturer of your coffee pot. This is probably the most expensive way of doing it, in both parts and shipping costs. I would do this as a last resort.
- Go on ebay. Sometimes there is someone selling some filters they no longer need or they found a bunch of parts on a clearance shelf at Target and they snatched them all up and are reselling them on ebay. I do this quite often and recommend it. I will try and post some ebay listings below to look through.
- Go on Amazon. This is probably the easiest way. Just type in your Make and Model of your coffee pot and let them know what you’re wanting (i.e. Kitchen Aid Coffee Pot Water Filters). Amazon has excellent customer service, they’re fast, they’re usually the cheapest.
Of course this is not unique to just coffee makers, but it is a pain in the butt that you cannot get what you need as easily these days.
I get the occasional emails from folks who do not want to shop at Amazon and order a coffee pot over the internet. That’s fine. Although Amazon has probably the best customer service and return policy around, there are certain things that a person wants to buy at their local store.
