Krups 324-42 DuoThek Review

The Krups dual carafe coffee maker has received mixed reviews by most consumers. Not too many people in between. They either love it or hate it.  Here is what some people had to say.

“I like the Krups. I wish the carafes were a bit tighter when you connect them to the coffee pot. It causes some hot water spurting out the top, but otherwise both my husband and I like the Krups coffee maker.”

“Pros: Pros: the coffee machine looks good but is a bit large, it makes a good pot of coffee quickly, it is a solid machine, it turns itself off after two hours, it has a decent pot warmer. Cons:  the coffee maker beeps alot, the buttons seem a bit cheap, the blue display is WAY too bright, the clock is difficult to program.”

“This is my 3rd purchase of this product in 30 years and I highly recommend it.”

“This thermal carafes on this coffee maker offers hours of hot coffee.”

“I bought the Krups dual coffee maker thinking it would be great, but it is a piece of junk. The part that holds the carafes don’t pivot and don’t connect well. There is no drip stop feature. The only good part of this piece of crap from France is the coffee stay hot.”

“My coffee was cold.”

“This is an excellent product. I was searching for a duel coffee pot that had non-glass carafes when I came across the Krupps. I really like the stainless steel carafes. They keep the coffee hot for hours. The carafes are easy to pour, with no drips and it is easy to clean up. Overall I am very happy with my purchase.”

I would recommend this dual coffee maker. Those who had negative feedback seem to be looking for something different anyway. If you look at the picture of the coffee maker, it is simple and isn’t going to have all the bells and whistles. It seems to do 2 things very well – makes good coffee and keeps it hot (except for one person).

Filtered Water IS The Key To Good Coffee

I don’t know how many of you travel, but one of the worst parts about traveling is drinking water from other parts of the country. It changes the flavor of everything. Coffee, tea, lemonade, whatever all tastes different depending upon the water that is being used.

The one thing that can bring it all around is using a filter on your coffee pot, or at least filling your coffee maker with clean, cold, filtered water. This is true when using something like a dual coffee maker as well. Some of the newer models come with a filter in the water chamber that you will need to change out every so often (you just need to remember to do so) :-)

Using filtered water to fill your coffee maker not only removes some of the crud that is in all tap water, but it also removes some of the bad taste that is within water. This is what many of the major soda bottling companies have to do. The have bottling plants all across the nation, but they have to have quality water filters in place in order to try and make a Coke from Texas taste the same as a Coke in Florida, California, or wherever.

So, I suggest using a filter on your tap, on your refrigerator (which is where ours is), or using something like a Britta filter. Or, go to one of your department stores and buy a coffee pot with the filter already in the water chamber. I actually use both.

The bottom line is that it doesn’t matter how great your dual coffee maker is, how many cups your dual carafe machine will hold, or even how great your coffee grounds are, if the water is bad, you’ve just made a nasty cup of coffee.

Dual Carafe Coffee Maker

Have you ever needed more than one type of coffee brewing at one time? Or, have you ever had a large enough party that required more than a one carafe coffee maker?

While not a necessity for 95% of the population, there is a growing number of consumers who are purchasing a Dual Carafe Coffee Maker for their home. The primary reason is typically because they have a party with 8 – 15 adults, and there are two different preferences for coffee. One half wants regular brew, the other half wants decaf. Or, if you entertain with more than 15 adults, it is always nice to have 2 pots of fresh coffee available.

Simply put, a dual carafe coffee maker is like having two independent coffee makers in one machine. You load each one up with the filter, coffee bean grounds, and water. Each pot will independently brew it’s own pot. So, you can have one pot of decaf going, and then another pot of your regular coffee. I’m not much of a decaf person. So, in our home it would be one pot of a bold coffee, and then another pot of a milder bean.

Dual Coffee Pot

Owning a Dual Coffee Pot isn’t going to run you much more than a nice single pot machine. Among the most common testimonies among both men and women say is that it lets you make caffenated and decaf coffee at the same time, in two different pots! That is the number one feature… making it a great solution for households that have different tastes. Most machines will have two 10-cup coffee pots so each one can brew it’s own type of coffee.

If you can’t find a good coffee pot on Amazon (which is about the cheapest place you’re going to find them), then you might want to consider ebay. I can find brand new or like new items on ebay for 50-60% off at the store. This will be true of a good Dual Coffee Pot too.

Krupps Coffee Maker

The Kitchen Selectives dual coffee pot is getting harder to find, except maybe on ebay. The Krups Dual Coffee Pot is more readily available. It has the 2 individual, stainless steel coffee pots, which are thermal to keep your coffee hot for hours. There are multiple settings depending upon if you are brewing a small pot or a full pot. One of the reasons I like the Krups is for their “Deep Brew” technology. It brings out more flavor in my Coasta Rica or Kenyan coffee. You get extra rich, robust flavor.

Dual Cup Coffee Maker

Do you want something that is totally unique? Try a Dual Cup Coffee Maker. This is ideal for brewing 1 cup on each side for 2 different people.

There are several different popular brands of Dual Coffee Makers. Let’s look at some of the most popular. First is the Cuisinart Two to Go. It brews directly into two 14 oz. travel mugs. The coffee machine housing is black and has high quality stainless steel mugs. It is an attractive machine. These are the convenient, travel-ready mugs which have tight fitting lids. They will fit most cup holders, or their design is meant to fit comfortably in your hands. The machine has an indicator light with auto shut-off.

This has got to be one of my favorites… although I am biased towared Wolfgang Puck. The Wolfgang Puck dual-coffee maker brews your coffee so it is always fresh with nothing to waste. This is a very unique pod-style dual cup coffee maker. It is commerically rated and is quite ideal for your home or a small office when you don’t need to be brewing a large pot of coffee. You can set it up for one or two cups using either the Wolfgang Puck pods or your own coffee. There is an indicator light and beeper signal when coffee is ready. It is easy to clean and care for, and looks very attractive on your counter.

Dual Coffee Makers

As you can see from the pictures above, there are lots of different styles of dual coffee makers. That Kitchenaid looks pretty nice, don’t you think?

It used to be that when you thought of a dual coffee makers you thought of that old Bunn model sitting in the break room at work. As you can see, things have changed quite a bit. I own the Krups model, but my kitchen is red and I’d like to get a Kitchenaid that had a regular carafe on one side, and an espresso maker on the other.

The two most popular dual coffee makers on the market right now are the Krups dual coffee maker and the Kitchen Selectives dual coffee maker. The Krups is the model you see below. It is available at Amazon, and usually at a very good price. Amazon can usually beat any other company’s price by at least $25 – $50. I believe the Krups probably outsells every other brand by about a 10 to 1 ratio.
